Samuel Lawrence Brenner, a native of Lexington, Massachusetts, received his J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School, and his Ph.D. in History from Brown University. His dissertation is on the development of "Americanist" organizations such as the John Birch Society and the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. His legal scholarship is focused on Constitutional law, the history of race and civil rights in American law, the history of American war crimes inquiries, and United States legal history generally. From 2009-2010 he clerked for the Hon. David W. McKeague of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Lansing, Michigan; from 2010-2011 he clerked for the Hon. Kim McLane Wardlaw of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in Pasadena, California. He is currently an Associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, Ropes & Gray LLP, Boston, MA.
